UPMRC bags Green Champion Award for sustainable construction measures

Spreading greenery far and wide, the Uttar Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation (UPMRC) Limited has bagged the 9th Indian Green Building Council (IGBC) Green Champion Award in the category of "Metro Rail Authority Leading the Green MRTS Movement in India". The ceremony was organised at Hyderabad's International Convention Centre on October 21.

The award was proffered under the "Green Mass Rapid Transit System" for metro stations' sustainable construction in Lucknow, Kanpur, and Agra. From small measures like dust mitigation, washing of wheels, to translocation of trees, and other sustainable construction practises, the metro corporation has reportedly used eco-friendly means like solar energy, ambient lighting, and so on. Currently, 2,000+ green metro construction projects are going on accross India.
