Uttar Pradesh is emerging as a tourism hotspot, drawing 47.61 crore visitors from January to September this year, nearly surpassing last year’s total of 48 crore. Among the lot, 47.47 crore were domestic tourists, while over 14 lakh were international visitors.

This year, key UP destinations include Ayodhya, Mathura, Kashi, and Prayagraj, which witnessed millions of devotees and vacationers. Ayodhya alone welcomed over 13.5 crore visitors, while Mathura and Kashi attracted 6.8 crore and 6.2 crore tourists, respectively. Prayagraj also received a total of 4.80 crore visitors, including 4,790 foreign tourists. Major religious events, like Ayodhya's Pran Pratishtha of Ram, have significantly boosted the state's footfall.

With the Maha Kumbh 2025 in Prayagraj on the horizon, the figures are expected to soar further, solidifying UP’s status as India’s top tourism destination. The state aims to make "every visitor a brand ambassador of its rich cultural heritage".
