Vibrant cauliflower varieties, coming in yellow, green & purple shades, to soon be cultivated in UP

Hueful, rich-in-nutrients cauliflowers are slated to soon be cultivated in Uttar Pradesh on a wide scale. Indigenous to Australia, these aesthetically-pleasing cauliflowers come in shades of green, yellow and purple. For the same, Kanpur's Chandra Shekhar Azad University for Agriculture & Technology has been carrying out vegetable research and has reported propitious results.

Seeds were imported from Australia and extensive trials were performed on them by the university team. The outcome shows that when cultivated in a pesticide-free environment, amidst favourable conditions, the cauliflower varieties enhanced yields, thus, a making them a promising prospect for farmers across UP.

The vibrant varieties, called Karotina (yellow) and Valentina (purple), could prosper in the state's soil and climate conditions. The favourable conditions will result in the ideal environment, suggest experts. The colourful cauliflowers are also rich in nutritional value as they are loaded with anthocyanins, antioxidants, vitamins and minerals.

Farmers in UP are expected to soon receive seeds to cultivate these distinct cauliflower motley. This will, in turn, help in diversification of their crops and add nutrition to the same.
