In a bizarre twist, Lucknow’s under-construction Krishnanagar-Kesarikheda flyover has become an overnight internet sensation, for all the wrong reasons. A viral video shows iron rods from the bridge jutting straight into a two-storey building, as if the flyover was built into someone’s home. Yes, you read that right! The odd sight has left netizens baffled and amused, with many jokingly calling it the “eighth wonder of the world.”

A "bridge to nowhere"

The ₹74-crore flyover, designed to ease traffic at a railway crossing notorious for frequent closures, hit a bizarre roadblock, quite literally. Construction was halted for three months due to a land dispute, leaving locals to nickname it the “bridge to nowhere”. Behind the viral laughs, however, was a serious snag, pending compensation for landowners whose properties lay in the flyover’s path.

But the joke might finally be over! With negotiations wrapped up and demolition underway, officials say construction will resume shortly. Soon, the flyover could finally do what it was built for, help thousands skip those maddening 20-minute railway waits.

Until then, Lucknowites can lay claim to what might be India’s most unintentionally iconic flyover, an architectural punchline that proves even urban planning can go hilariously off track.
