Theatre Festival is coming to Lucknow and we are thrilled. A retreat for all theatre lovers, the National Theatre Festival will be on for 10 days and bring to you 10 plays featuring renowned artists from the country. The first 9 plays will be staged at UP's Sangeet Natak Academy in Lucknow, and the last play will be enacted twice at Bhartendu Natya Academy.
On May 18, the inaugural play will begin at 6:30 pm while the other kick off from 7:00 pm. As per officials, entry is free for all!
Celebrating the diamond jubilee of Darpan theatre group, renowned actors such as Anup Soni, Juhi Babbar and Anil Rastogi are to join the festival. Darpan theatre group was founded by Prof. Satya Murty in 1961
As per Darpan secretary, RS Soni, following is the schedule of the National Theatre Festival:
May 18 - Play ‘Swaha’ directed by Shubhadeep Raha for Darpan
May 19 - Play ‘Prem Ramayana’ directed by Atul Satya Kaushik for Films and Television Society, Mumbai,
May 20 - Play ‘Baliganj’ directed by Atul Satya Kaushik for Films and Television Society, Mumbai,
May 21 - Play ‘With love aapki Sayara’ directed by Juhi Babbar for Ekjute, Mumbai
May 22 - Play ‘Ghalib in New Delhi’, directed by Sayed Alam and staged Pierrot’s Troupe, Delhi
May 23 - Play ‘Mahabali’ by Darpan, Gorakhpur
‘Andhayug’, ‘Bayan’, ‘Laila Majnu’ and ‘Mai re Mai Ka se kahu’ will be staged by National School of Drama from May 24 onwards.
