Lucknow wakes up to light rains & winter chills on Thursday!

Ayesha Khan

Lucknow city dwellers woke up to an overcast sky on Thursday morning, characterised by intense winter chills. Light rains, haze and low temperatures made up for the weather in the wee hours today. As per IMD reports, this cold wave and rain spell, along with thunderstorms are likely in Lucknow until February 4. While the sky will clear up after that, a further dip in the mercury is expected to bring unrelenting cold across Lucknow and other state districts.

According to the warnings laid out by the state meT department, Lucknow will remain covered with a generally cloudy sky with one or two spells of rain or thundershowers on February 3rd and 4th. Moreover, the cold wave along with dense to very dense fog will persist across the state as well. Going by the reports issued by the IMD officials, this sudden change in the weather is caused by the active western disturbances and their cyclonic circulations.

In a tweet, the meT department said, "Thunderstorm with light to moderate intensity rain and wind speed of 15-25 Kmph would occur over and adjoining areas of Gangoh, Deoband, Nazibabad, Shamli, Muzaffarnagar, Mathura, Hathras, Kandhla, Bijnaur, Khatauli, Sakoti Tanda, Hastinapur, Chandpur, Amroha, Moradabad, Rampur, Pilakhua, Sambhal, Billari, Milak, Chandausi, Jahangirabad, Anupshahar, Bahajoi, Shikarpur, Pahasu, Debai, Narora (U.P.) during next 2 hours."

As per the forecast, the maximum and minimum temperature in Lucknow is expected to range between 11°C to 19°C tomorrow. While the nimbus cover will dissipate on February 5, the minimum temperature in Lucknow is expected to dip down further by a degree on Saturday.
