As the sky remained clear over the past few days, the maximum temperature was seen to be 22.1, a degree below normal. On the same days, the minimum temperature was recorded at 9.8 degrees Celsius, a degree above normal. Additionally, mild fog was also seen in areas near Amausi Airport which lowered visibility by 50 meters.

In the city, the changes in the weather conditions will start from Tuesday and Wednesday, following which, the city will see a dip in temperatures and a heavy spell of rain. Met department experts have alluded this spell of rains to a strong western disturbance. The winds and clouds are expected to hit Indian hill states on Tuesday. This, in turn will create a cyclonic circulation over the northern plains and change the wind pattern. Apart from that, heavy moisture is expected to make its way from the Bay of Bengal.

The feelings towards the previous rain spell was something of a mixed bag. Lucknowites were glad to witness the rains but were not pleased with the low temperatures and foggy, murky days. This year, the winter rains have been moderate so far. December 2018 was a rather dry month, January recorded 21.7 mm of rainfall which is 13% above normal for this time of the year.

As per weather forecasts, this week will see relatively clear skies on Monday and Tuesday, and from Wednesday, the city will witness rain spells and higher night temperatures.
