Winter Assembly Session underway in Lucknow; Expect traffic reroutes near Hazratganj, Vidhan Bhavan

With the commencement of the Winter Assembly Session of the Uttar Pradesh Vidhan Sabha today, heightened security measures have been implemented in Lucknow's VVIP zones. As a result, commuters should anticipate traffic diversions in areas such as Raj Bhavan, Atal Chowk in Hazratganj, GPO, DSO Crossing, Burlington Crossing, Hussainganj, Parivartan Chown and other areas.

Heightened security in the sensitive zones of Lucknow

The four-day assembly session will focus on key state issues, including Mahakumbh preparations, the Uttar Pradesh state budget, and anti-encroachment drives, among others. Given the expected presence of state dignitaries and opposition leaders, the Lucknow Police Commissionerate has heightened security across the city.

Barricades have been set up at key locations, with extensive police checks underway. Additionally, the Rapid Action Force (RAF) and Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) have been deployed to ensure security. Sensitive zones will be monitored closely through CCTV surveillance by the Police Control Centres.

To manage traffic effectively, the Police Commissioner has also announced road diversions in the affected areas.

Here's the list of alternative routes:

  • Vehicles moving from Bandariabagh Railway Colony intersection to Raj Bhavan, DSO, Hazratganj intersection, GPO, or Vidhan Sabha will be rerouted via Lalbatti intersection, Cantt, or 1090 intersection.

  • Small vehicles and buses travelling from Sankalp Vatika bridge to Mahanagar will not be allowed towards Hazratganj. These will instead follow the route via Baikunth Dham, 1090 intersection, Bandariabagh, Lalbatti, and Cantt.

  • Traffic from the KKC intersection and Charbagh heading towards Hussainganj, Hazratganj, and Vidhan Sabha will be diverted via Cantt, Burlington crossing or Kaiserbagh.

  • Vehicles coming from Gomtinagar will not be allowed to move towards Sikandarbagh, Hazratganj, and Vidhan Sabha. These will instead take the route via Baikunth Dham, Sankalp Vatika Overbridge, Kaiserbagh, 1090 intersection, Bandariabagh, Lalbatti intersection, and Cantt.

  • Vehicles from the Sikandarbagh intersection heading towards Vidhan Sabha will follow the route via Balu Adda, Gandhi Setu or 1090 intersection.

  • Traffic from Parivartan Chowk and Hindi Sansthan intersection heading to Hazratganj and Vidhan Sabha will be diverted through Kaiserbagh, Sankalp Vatika, Sikandarbagh intersection, and 1090 intersection.

Commuters are advised to plan their routes in advance, expect delays, and stay updated on real-time traffic advisories during the next 3 days.
