Returning to India after four long decades, International Olympic Committee's 141st session will be held in Mumbai. The session, which will be held from October 15 to October 17, will be preceded by an opening ceremony on October 14.

Leading up to the session, the IOC Executive Board meeting will be conducted on October 12 and October 13. The Jio World Convention Centre in Mumbai's Bandra Kurla Complex has been earmarked as the venue for the 141st IOC session.

The opening ceremony, on the other hand, will be held at the Nita Mukesh Ambani Cultural Centre's grand theatre. It is noteworthy that the previous IOC session in India was held way back in 1983 in New Delhi.

India's giant leap as an Olympic nation

The IOC session brings together all members of the International Olympic Committee. Several important decisions are taken during the session, regarding upcoming events, Olympic charter tweaks, and the addition or omission of Sports Federations from the body.

By winning rights to this edition of the session, India will be cementing its place as a major Olympic nation. Furthermore, the event will feature over 600 delegates from member nations, global media covering 100 countries, and representatives from upwards of 50 sports.
