Mumbai Police will deploy 14,211 personnel across the city on August 15 to ensure peaceful Independence Day celebrations and maintain law and order during religious events scheduled for the same day. The deployment is part of a special security plan issued by the Police Commissioner under the supervision of the Joint Commissioner of Police (Law & Order).
The force will comprise 6 Additional Commissioners, 17 Deputy Commissioners, 39 Assistant Commissioners, 2,529 police officers, and 11,682 constables. Specialised units including Force One, State Reserve Police Force (SRPF) platoons, Quick Response Teams (QRTs), Riot Control Squads, Delta and Combat Teams, and Home Guards, will be stationed at key locations to respond to any emergencies.
Further, Mumbai Police have urged residents to cooperate with security personnel, remain patient in crowded areas, and immediately report unattended objects. Citizens are advised to celebrate responsibly and contact the police helplines on 100 or 112 in case of an emergency.
