Mumbai’s Coastal Road Project is set to tackle the city’s persistent traffic woes, with the introduction of four underground parking facilities strategically placed across South Mumbai. The locations are near Tata Garden, Haji Ali (near Lotus Jetty), Worli Dairy, and along Worli Seaface opposite Bindu Madhav Thackeray Chowk. Together, these facilities will provide a total parking capacity of up to 1,850 vehicles.

As per reports, the first of these lots is expected to open in Worli within the next 4 to 6 weeks.

Mumbai's underground parking faces challenges

The parking lots will vary in size, with the Tata Garden facility offering 250 spaces, the Lotus Jetty lot accommodating 1,200 vehicles, and the two Worli locations each hosting 200 cars. The Haji Ali site, a four-storey structure, will be the largest, while the others will span two storeys.

All necessary approvals have been granted for the developments, although the project has faced opposition from some local residents. Breach Candy Residents Forum (BCRF) has raised concerns over the Tata Garden lot, fearing it could exacerbate traffic congestion and disrupt the area’s daily life. As a result, construction at this particular site has been temporarily halted.
