Indian Railways is on track to transform its network with the ongoing Mumbai-Ahmedabad bullet train project, the nation's first officially approved high-speed rail initiative. Stretching over 508 kilometres, this ambitious project will link 12 major stations, including Mumbai, Surat, Vadodara, and Ahmedabad, with trains reaching speeds of up to 320 km/h.
In addition to this flagship project, the National High-Speed Rail Corporation Limited is preparing detailed plans for future corridors, including those connecting Delhi-Varanasi, Delhi-Ahmedabad, Delhi-Amritsar, and Mumbai-Nagpur.
With technical and financial support from Japan, construction of the Mumbai-Ahmedabad bullet train is progressing swiftly. So far, 336 kilometres of pier foundations and 225 kilometres of girder launching have been completed, with a key milestone being the start of a 21-kilometer undersea tunnel.
