The base rate for Ola and Uber rides will rise from ₹16/km to ₹24/km in Mumbai and from ₹12/km to ₹18/km in Pune, a move triggered by driver protests over low earnings amid soaring fuel and maintenance costs.
This decision comes after months of negotiations between driver unions and the state government, following protests for fairer earnings. Drivers argued that the previous fares were insufficient to cover rising fuel and maintenance costs.
