Major infra boost! New MTHL connector to soon link Chirle with Mumbai-Pune Expressway

Jatin Shewaramani

Following the inauguration of Mumbai Trans Harbour Link (MTHL), the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) has approved the construction of a connector bridge starting from Chirle, adjacent to MTHL. This proposed 6-lane bridge aims to link Chirle with the Mumbai-Pune Expressway, facilitating smoother access for motorists traveling towards Pune and Lonavala.

Currently, vehicles traveling from South Mumbai to the Mumbai-Pune Expressway often encounter traffic congestion on Sion-Panvel Highway. The construction of this connector bridge is expected to significantly alleviate this issue, providing a more efficient commute route.

Seamless connectivity between South Mumbai and Mumbai-Pune Expressway

According to the proposed project specifications, the connector route will consist of two six-lane roads. One of these roads will link Chirle to Gavhan Phata, while the other will connect Palaspe to the Mumbai-Pune Expressway.

Commencement of work on this project is imminent, and it is anticipated to be completed within approximately 30 months. Once finished, this vital connector will offer a direct pathway from South Mumbai areas to the Mumbai-Pune Expressway, significantly enhancing connectivity and reducing travel time for commuters.
