Mumbai commuters will find relief in the form of additional BEST buses during the upcoming major railway block on the Western Line. The Brihanmumbai Electric Supply and Transport undertaking has announced a comprehensive plan to deploy extra buses as Western Railway conducts critical re-girdering work on the Mithi River bridge from April 11-13.
The 9.5-hour block, scheduled from 11:00 PM to 8:30 AM on April 11-12 and 12-13, will suspend services on the slow line between Dadar and Bandra for crucial re-girdering work over the Mithi River. Over 500 train services, including local and partial routes, are set to be impacted across both nights.
With key stations like Dadar, Bandra, and Andheri likely to face chaos, BEST is rolling out a two-phase plan:
Night Operations: 6 extra buses between Khodadad Circle-Andheri and Santacruz-Dadar
Morning Rush: 18 additional buses on routes like Bandra-Dindoshi, Goregaon-Worli, and Gorai-Mahim
Senior officials and inspectors will monitor key hubs like Bandra, Dadar, and Mahim to ensure smooth bus operations. Commuters are urged to plan ahead and rely on these supplementary services to avoid disruptions.
