Big bags allowed on Mumbai Metro 3 but other lines leave travellers struggling! Know details

Mumbai Metro 3 stations now have large X-ray scanners for big suitcases.

Khushboo Ali

Passengers on Mumbai Metro 3 will now be able to carry large suitcases (up to 32x21x12 inches, 23 kg), thanks to newly installed spacious X-ray scanners at stations. However, other metro lines like Metro 1 (Versova – Andheri – Ghatkopar), Metro 2A (Dahisar East – Gundavali) and Metro 7 (Dahisar East – Andheri West) still require manual luggage checks.

While Metro 3 offers baggage trolleys at airport terminals for added convenience, passengers transferring to other routes may face difficulties with their oversized bags.

Here's what you need to know-

  • Aqua Line X-ray Scanners: Designed for luggage up to 32x21x12 inches and 23 kg, providing relief for airport commuters.

  • Baggage Trolleys: Available at stations near Terminals 1 and 2 for added convenience.

  • Manual Checks: Passengers may face manual luggage checks when using smaller scanners.

  • No Planned Upgrades: No upgrades are currently planned for Metro 1 or Metro 2A, adding hassle for travellers with large suitcases.
