In a tech-driven move to streamline parking and curb fraud, the BMC is rolling out FASTag-based payments for on-street parking across Mumbai. Soon, vehicle owners will simply scan a QR code at BMC lots, and fees will be automatically deducted from their FASTag accounts, no cash, no hassle.

The initiative targets rampant issues with fake parking attendants and overcharging in busy zones like Dadar, Andheri, and CST. A dedicated app will also launch soon, helping users find slots, view rates, and get digital receipts.

The system will initially cover select BMC-managed lots before expanding to 100+ locations citywide. Officials say the move will bring transparency, improve traffic flow, and ensure parking payments go where they should.
