The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has introduced an exciting summer initiative, 'Chala Vachu Ya! Summer Vacation Library', to encourage reading among students. From May 2 to June 12 2025, 25 civic schools across Mumbai will turn into libraries, offering a wide selection of books for students from classes 6 to 10.

Open daily in two slots (10 AM–1 PM and 4 PM–6 PM), these libraries will cater to both BMC and private school students. Each facility will have dedicated reading spaces and separate restrooms for boys and girls. To enter, students must carry their school ID, Aadhaar card, and a parental consent letter.

The BMC has also provided a QR code for easy access to library locations. NGOs will assist in managing the program. Ward-wise details include libraries at Lord Harris School (A Ward), Dr. Ambedkar School (G-South), and Tilak Nagar School (M-West), among others.
