The Delhi-Mumbai Expressway is set to revolutionise connectivity between India's Capital and financial hub. A key highlight of this expressway is the nearly-completed tunnel near Kota, Rajasthan. This route is going to help those who often plan their journey from Gurugram to Vadodara or vice-versa, via road.

According to the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH), 1156 km of the total 1386 km has been completed. Out of this, 756 km is already open for public use.

Gurugram to Vadodara in nearly half the time

Currently, the road journey from Gurugram to Vadodara takes around 20–22 hours. With the expressway and the new tunnel in place, this will reduce to 10–12 hours.

A special focus has been given to the existing wildlife near the tunnel in the Rajasthan section. To ensure no disturbance to wild animals, the tunnel's construction has been carried out in a way that it does not pose any danger to them or Mukundra Tiger Reserve.

This new eight-lane expressway will pass through Haryana, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, and Maharashtra. It is built for a top speed of 120 km/hr and can be expanded to 12 lanes in the future. It’s expected to cost around ₹1 lakh crore. The final cost will be known after the remaining construction work is completed.
