Life is uncertain and we all at some point, have been victims of expensive medical treatments. Coming through for the needy, Hinduhriday Samrat Balasaheb Thackeray (HBT) Hospital and Polyclinics in Mumbai will give free medical treatment to the general public of Mumbai. Here, from October 2, free medical facilities, including X-rays, ultrasounds, and electrocardiographs (ECG) will be provided.
According to BMC's plan, in the first phase, 50 health centres are ready to be launched in the city, and eventually 227 more will be set up in eastern and western suburbs, 34 of which will be polyclinics.
Housing one MBBS doctor, a nurse, a pharmacist and a multi-purpose worker, each polyclinic will serve approximately twenty-five to thirty thousand people. Through expert consultants, specialised facilities like ophthalmology, paediatrics and gynaecology will also be catered to. The clinics will operate under two arrangements- movable portacabins and as fixed concrete centres.
Starting from October 2, the polyclinics will work in two shifts, from 7 AM to 2 PM and 3 PM to 10 PM.
Reportedly, plans are also underway to increase the count of mobile medical units around slums and to launch mobile van services for mammography.
