The Indian Navy Band will stage public performances at key Mumbai landmarks as part of the 79th Independence Day celebrations. The hour-long concerts, from 5:30 PM to 6:30 PM, will be held at:

  • Bandra Fort Amphitheatre – August 14, 2025

  • Gateway of India – August 15, 2025

Open to all, the events aim to inspire patriotic pride and mark India’s 79th year of independence.

Formed in 1945 with just a handful of naval musicians, the Indian Navy Band has since gained national and international recognition, performing at prestigious events across India and abroad, particularly during overseas deployments of Indian naval warships. Known for its versatility, the band’s repertoire ranges from martial music and symphonies to Indian classical pieces and contemporary styles such as pop and folk.

A spirited start to the city’s Independence Day festivities

The celebrations began earlier this week, with the first performance at Flora Fountain, Fort, on Monday, August 11. The Indian Navy Band was seen practising at the venue in south Mumbai as people gathered and cheered.
