On September 17, Mumbai plunged into unexpected digital darkness as Jio, one of India's leading telecom providers, experienced a massive network outage due to a fire at its data centre. The crisis peaked at midday, with Down Detector reporting a staggering 10,552 issue reports by 12:36 PM - a significant surge from just 695 an hour earlier.

Jio users across Mumbai found themselves suddenly cut off from the digital world, unable to access the internet, make calls, or use Jio services and apps. The abrupt disconnection sparked a wave of frustration, with countless customers venting their annoyance on social media, particularly on X.
