Knocksense Shorts | BMC to build a new watchtower at Mumbai's touristy Girgaon Chowpatty

Featuring an unobstructed view of the Arabian Sea, this will be a popular tourist attraction in the region.

Mumbai's administrative body, Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), plans to construct a watchtower at Girgaon Chowpatty's entry point. This will be set up to offer an unobstructed view of the Arabian Sea to citizens and tourists.

This initiative, suggested by Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, will also include a new road overbridge (ROB) to replace the demolished Ambalal Patel road overbridge at Marine Lines.

This overbridge will connect to the watchtower via an extended skywalk. The watchtower will feature modern amenities, and cater to differently Giabled individuals with ramps and an elevator. It will offer seating, retail outlets, and a food court.

This project aims to enhance the city's beach infrastructure for tourism, with project costs still under consideration. The new steel overbridge will replace the privately-owned Patel Bridge, originally funded by AJ Patel, who later formed the Patel Trust.
