Mumbai's first electric double-decker bus will be commissioned by September 2022, for which an agreement has been signed between EV manufacturer Olectra and BEST.

Reportedly, the prototype of the electric double-decker bus is ready with all the necessary permissions and is expected to be delivered to BEST soon. Once delivered, the bus will go under extensive trials, post which it will start operations for public use.

These buses are being developed by Olectra who was awarded a contract for the supply of 900 electric buses in different phases, with a target of delivering 450 buses by March 2023.
