The Regional Meteorological Centre (RMC) of the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) issued alerts for Mumbai, Palghar, Thane, Raigad, Ratnagiri and Sindhudurg. As per the issued warning, citizens are asked to be prepared for moderate to very heavy rainfall at isolated places in next 5 days.

Since June 1, the inactive phase of monsoon has led Maharashtra to record just 40.3 mm rainfall for this month. A 57% ‘deficit’ as compared to its long-term average for the period between June 1 and 18, which stands at 93.4 mm.

After a relatively weak monsoon, Mumbai experienced heavy showers on Sunday. Several Mumbaikars welcomed the heavy showers by posting pictures of the rains on social media. Meanwhile, IMD released Yellow alert for Mumbai, as the city is expected to experience heavy to very heavy rainfall at isolated places for the next three day.
