Starting October 15, 2023, the Mumbai-Pune Expressway will feature an upgraded Intelligent Traffic Management System (ITMS), as confirmed by the office of the Joint MD of MSRDC. This date has been specifically selected for the launch of this advanced technology on the expressway

The ITMS will combine intelligent AI-based cameras and advanced technology to bolster safety and better management at the expressway. For instance, its visual messaging system will alert commuters about traffic status, closures, weather conditions, etc.

Furthermore, the AI-based cameras will promptly detect traffic violations of 17 different types. In order to manage all ITMS operations, a command center has also been set up at Kusgaon.
