Taking note of the repeated traffic woes, Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) is finally addressing traffic congestion at Bandra-Kurla Complex (BKC). MMRDA, led by Sanjay Mukherjee, recently inspected seven locations plagued by traffic jams in BKC due to metro rail and high-speed rail station work.

Some of the traffic-choked locations include the BKC Connector landing, Bharat Diamond Bourse, Mumbai Cricket Association, Convention Centre, MTNL, Indian Oil Petrol Pump and Godrej BKC Tower. During the survey, parking provisions at Jio Garden, cycle tracks in BKC, bus parking arrangement near Dhirubhai Ambani International School and the pick-up and drop parking at Sofitel and Trident hotels were also reviewed. Soon an expert agency to study the traffic movement and propose solutions will be appointed by authorities.

Given the close proximity to the international and domestic airports from both the Eastern Express Highway and the Western Express Highway, BKC‘s popularity has only been growing. Companies prefer setting up their offices here. Therefore better roads and traffic management will ensure faster commute and save time.
