A meeting chaired by the Maharashtra Chief Minister with all ministers unanimously leaned towards the cancellation of state board examinations for the batch of 2021. It was agreed upon that the present-day COVID situation is not feasible to conduct state-wide exams in Maharashtra. As per reports, the disaster management authority was further included in the loop and a proposal was sent to them, regarding the HSC board exams.

Earlier, the Class 12 Maharashtra Board exams were slated to commence on April 23. However, with the scaling threat of the pandemic, the state first postponed the Secondary School Certificate assessments and now, have issued the cancellation order. So far, there is no word regarding the passing criteria.

This development comes nearly after 2 months of the state's decision to cancel the SSC Class 10 board examination on April 20 on the same grounds. The Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Education has said that students will be promoted to the next grade on the basis of internal marks.
