Maharashtra has unveiled its first-ever glass skywalk, set above the Napne Waterfall in Sindhudurg district, around 500 km from Mumbai. Inaugurated under the Sindhuratna Tourism initiative, the bridge was built at an estimated cost of ₹99.63 lakh. This transparent skywalk is designed to provide visitors with breathtaking views of the waterfall directly beneath their feet.
Constructed using high-strength transparent glass, the skywalk is supported by arch-style railings and accessed via wooden-style stairs. A butterfly sculpture at the entrance has already become a popular selfie spot.
The Napne Waterfall, located near Nadhavade Village and just 3 km from Vaibhavwadi Railway Station, is a perennial waterfall surrounded by dense forests. The region is rich in biodiversity, often offering sightings of hornbills and other exotic bird species.
By Bus: Private buses from Mumbai to Vaibhavwadi take 9–11 hours. Local transport is available from the bus stand to the site.
By Road: A drive from Mumbai via NH-66 offers a scenic road trip to Napne.
Best time to visit: September to February is the ideal period to visit Napne.
Distance from Mumbai: 511 km
