In some great news for frequent flyers from Mumbai, the CSMI Airport is all set to get the DigiYatra facility. This biometrics-based facility is expected to start at Mumbai Airport in the month of August.

The DigiYatra app enables contactless processing at a number of security checkpoints at an airport. The app does this by identifying the passenger's identity and trip information, by simply recognizing their facial features.

The facility prioritizes passenger convenience and privacy

It must be noted that the biometric data that the airport will receive from DigiYatra is discarded from the airport's system within 24 hours of use. So, Mumbaikars need not harbor any privacy concerns about this new facility at their airport.

Furthermore, all the passenger data here is encrypted and is stored safely in the wallet of the passenger's smartphone. The DigiYatra app facility was first launched in December 2022 at Varanasi, Bengaluru, and New Delhi airports.

Over 3 million flyers in India have already used DigiYatra

In less than a year, a whopping 3.4 million passengers have utilised this service. Now, the facility will debut at Mumbai, Lucknow, Kochi, Jaipur, Ahmedabad, and Guwahati airports in August. With this, a total of 13 airports in India will be using this super-convenient, contactless passenger screening facility.
