Mumbai’s cyber crime unit is shifting from Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC) to a cutting-edge cyber police station in Bandra West, enhancing the city’s capabilities against complex financial frauds. The new West Region Cyber Police Station, situated on the 5th floor of the Mumbai Police Cyber Centre near Lucky Junction on S.V. Road, will specifically handle cyber fraud cases exceeding ₹10 lakh, marking a significant step forward in Mumbai’s digital crime-fighting efforts.

Equipped for faster, more accurate fraud probes

Equipped with a modern cyber lab featuring advanced computers, servers, and forensic tools, the facility aims to improve response time and investigation quality. It will help trace numbers, recover data, and analyse new scams like fake trading apps and WhatsApp impersonation.

Senior officials, including the DCP and ACP of the Cyber Crime Department, will operate from the building’s 6th floor. A dedicated team of eight officers and 35 personnel will manage cases, while frauds under ₹10 lakh will still be handled by local police.

This move expands cyber lab access to Mumbai’s West region for the first time, joining existing facilities in the South, Central, and East zones. With this expansion, Mumbai aims for faster, more precise digital investigations to curb rising cybercrime. Authorities urge citizens to stay vigilant, avoid sharing sensitive data, and report suspicious activity via the National Cyber Crime Helpline 1930 or www.cybercrime.gov.in.
