Mumbai gets new cleanliness bylaws! BMC invites feedback via WhatsApp, QR Code until May 31

This move complements BMC’s cleanliness drive across Mumbai’s key public spaces.

The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has released new draft bylaws aimed at improving cleanliness and promoting waste segregation at source across Mumbai. The comprehensive guidelines also target littering reduction and enhanced sanitation practices throughout the city.

The civic body is actively seeking public input on these proposed regulations until May 31, 2025. Residents can share feedback via a dedicated WhatsApp chatbot by sending "BMC SWM" to +91 89769 26914, or by scanning a provided QR code.

This initiative aligns with BMC’s intensive cleanliness drive focused on Mumbai’s landmark recreational spaces. The first phase, held from April 1 to 4, covered key areas such as Azad Maidan, Shivaji Park, and several major sports complexes. From April 7, the campaign extended to all civic, government, and private educational institutions for a 15-day duration.

The clean-up efforts particularly target encroachment-affected areas and sites with persistent solid waste dumping, with activities scheduled weekdays from 9 AM to 12 Noon.
