Outbound air travellers in Mumbai will have to continue paying the development fee at Chattrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport, until June. Mumbai flyers to now pay higher development fee

All domestic passengers flying from the Mumbai airport will have to pay a development fee of ₹120 till June end, while the same for international departures has been marked at ₹720. This not only marks an extension in the levy of the fees but also its value, which was charged at ₹100 and ₹600 for domestic and international travellers, respectively.

Notably, the Development fees was first introduced by the Mumbai International Airport Ltd (MIAL) in 2012 till April 2021 to cover a deficit of ₹3,845 crore under the Mumbai Airport Capacity Enhancement Project. However, in the wake of reduced footfall owing to the travel restrictions due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the order was then extended by 2 years, till March 2022.
