Mumbai’s long-awaited Metro Line 3 extension is finally set to be inaugurated on Friday, May 9, with services opening to the public from May 10. For thousands of commuters eagerly waiting for the BKC–Acharya Atre Chowk stretch, relief is finally in sight.

This 9.77-km fully underground section of the Aqua Line will link one of Mumbai’s busiest commercial zones, Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC) with key residential and transit areas like Dharavi, Dadar, Siddhivinayak, and Worli Naka.

Aqua Line to connect 27 key stops across Mumbai

Once fully operational, the 33.5 km corridor, Mumbai's first fully underground metro, will link Aarey to Cuff Parade, covering 27 stations including CSMT and Churchgate. The metro promises faster travel, with fares ranging from ₹10 to ₹60.

Despite its benefits, some connectivity gaps remain such as the 1 km distance between Dadar metro and railway stations. However, modern amenities like automatic fare gates, elevators and spacious walkways ensure a smooth commute.

With 96 trips daily (6:30 AM- 10:30 PM), the Aqua Line is set to transform Mumbai's transit, cutting travel time and pollution while boosting connectivity.
