Mumbai Metro Line 1 marks 10-year anniversary! Makes over 1.1 million trips with 99% punctuality

Mumbai’s inaugural Metro Line 1 (Blue Line), spanning from Versova to Ghatkopar, commemorated a decade of service on Saturday (June 8). This corridor has completed over 11 lakh trips, with an impressive 99% punctuality record. Expressing gratitude to the 970 million commuters who have been served over the past decade, the Mumbai Metro One officials highlighted its role as a lifeline for Mumbaikars.

Launched on June 8, 2014, the Mumbai Metro One, marked the city’s foray into metro services, significantly augmenting its transportation landscape, previously heavily reliant on local trains. This 12-km-long Versova-Andheri-Ghatkopar line features 12 stations and transports around 4.5 lakh passengers on weekdays. Reportedly, in the past decade, 16 trains of Mumbai Metro One have completed approximately 12.6 crore km of journeys, which sums up to around 7.9 lakh km per train.
