Mumbai opened Monday on a cool note with temperatures slipping below 22°C, but the brief winter-like calm was quickly smothered by a dense blanket of smog. Visibility dropped across multiple areas as November’s stubborn build-up of pollution refused to lift.

Meanwhile, RMC Mumbai expects clear, dry skies through the day, with afternoon temperatures rising to around 31-32°C. The early-morning chill may linger for a few days. Moreover, light to moderate rain has been forecast for the city tomorrow. Check out the full district-wise forecast here.

AQI slips to severe, major pockets cross 350

Mumbai’s overall AQI touched 326, placing the city in the severe category. Chembur was the worst affected at 382, followed by Santacruz East (362) and Wadala Truck Terminal (355). Malad (344) and BKC (342) showed similar deterioration.

Even suburban zones reported worrying numbers. Kandivali East, at 163, was the lowest but still in the poor bracket. Jogeshwari (309), Govandi (313), Borivali East (315) and Mulund West (317) all recorded severe air quality.
