The iconic 154-year-old Crawford Market in Mumbai is undergoing its final stages of redevelopment, with plans to open its refurbished Block 3 and 4 by June 2024. Following the current blocks' completion, the redevelopment will extend to two more blocks, slated for opening next year.

With this final step, Mumbaikars will have full access to the fully upgraded yet heritage-retaining Crawford Market. Additionally, a one-acre pedestrian plaza at the market's heart will enhance accessibility.

Know Features:

After the successful restoration of the heritage building in the first phase (2015-2018), attention turned to revitalising the central fountain and open spaces, reminiscent of the market's historic design. Preservation efforts have been meticulous, respecting Crawford Market's rich heritage.

Municipal officers recently inspected the site, noting remaining tasks such as painting and finalising doors and windows. The project faced challenges in relocating vendors without disruption, contributing to delays. Now, the area will comfortably accommodate fish and mutton vendors.

The revamped blocks will also feature two basement levels for cargo handling and fish cleaning wastewater treatment, along with 150 car parking spaces. Interconnected vendor spaces spanning four levels will ensure seamless shopping experiences.
