Mumbai's eagerly awaited Coastal Road Project witnessed a promising start as the newly inaugurated north-bound arm attracted a substantial number of vehicles, on day one after its operation. According to data released by the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), around 20,450 vehicles traversed the high-speed corridor on June 11, a day after its inauguration.

The Coastal Road, currently open on weekdays from 7 AM to 11 PM, has already proven its mettle by slashing peak hour travel time from Marine Drive to Haji Ali from 40 minutes to under 10 minutes. The evening rush hour between 5 PM and 8 PM witnesses the highest traffic, with over 2,000 vehicles per hour utilising the new route, indicating motorists' preference for the congestion-free road during Mumbai's notorious peak hours.

As the ambitious ₹13,000 crore project nears completion, Mumbai's commuters eagerly await to utilise the road's full potential.
