Only 1 in 6 corporate flyers in 2024 was a woman! Mumbai leads with 19% representation in 2024

In 2024, Indian women accounted for approximately 15.8% of corporate flyers, meaning one in six business travellers was female, according to online travel platform MakeMyTrip. This data was derived from an analysis of flight bookings by myBiz, MakeMyTrip’s corporate booking platform.

Among India’s major cities, Mumbai topped the list, with 19% of corporate flyers being women. Delhi followed closely at 18%, while Bengaluru recorded 17%. Other cities, including Hyderabad (13%), Kolkata and Ahmedabad (12%), and Chennai and Pune (11%), showed lower female representation. Notably, the Mumbai-Bengaluru, Delhi-Bengaluru, and Mumbai-Delhi routes had the highest proportion of female corporate travellers.

Sector-wise breakdown of female corporate travellers

The sectoral breakdown revealed that the education sector had the highest female representation, with 28% of corporate travellers being women, followed by media and entertainment at 25%, and consulting at 22%. Conversely, industries such as manufacturing, chemicals, and pharmaceuticals saw a lower share, around 10%.
