Partly cloudy skies & light rainfall for Mumbai today; thunderstorms expected from Aug 19

No alert for Mumbai yet the IMD has issued Yellow Alert for much of Maharashtra.

India Meteorological Department (IMD) in its latest weather update for Mumbai, predicted partly cloudy sky with occasional light showers over the next 24 hours. Meanwhile, thunderstorms and moderate showers are set to roll in from August 19 in the city.

While Mumbai, Thane, and Palghar aren’t under any specific warnings just yet, the weather bureau has issued Yellow Alert for much of Maharashtra.

Mumbai reservoirs at 93.20% capacity

The city's seven reservoirs are brimming at 93.20% capacity, according to the latest update from the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC). With a combined water stock of 13,48,886 million litres, the lakes are set to keep the taps flowing smoothly until next monsoon, reportedly.

This morning, traffic at the Godrej signal on the Eastern Express Highway was held up due to a container breakdown, but everything else is moving along smoothly. On a brighter note, both Central and Western Railways report that trains across all corridors are running without a hitch.
