Repair works to halt the traffic on the Eastern Express Highway for 12 days

The flyover will be shut down for vehicular movement from May 13 to May 24

Much to the worries of the daily commuters between Chheda Nagar and Thane, a section of the busy Eastern Express Highway (EEH) is up for a complete shutdown for a period of 12 days. Motorists and vehicle owners will not be allowed to use the flyover above the junction where Jogeshwari Vikhroli link road (JVLR) merges with the EEH from May 13 to May 24.

The blockage of traffic on EEH will inevitably impact the traffic conditions on the road under the flyover, since all the vehicles commuting to Chheda Nagar and Thane will have to take that exit. Reportedly, the flyover has been shut to complete the pending repair work as part of routine maintenance.

According to a MSRDCC official, while work on replacing ball-bearings has already been completed, repairing and replacement of expansion joints cannot be done without traffic blocks. JVLR is not the only flyover undergoing maintenance work. Apart from this, traffic on the Sion flyover will also be diverted on the weekends till June 20, until the pending repair and overhauling work is compeleted.
