Say hello to 'TapTap': Mumbai Metro 1 introduces contactless QR-coded wristband tickets

Aditya Vikram

Passengers travelling on Mumbai Metro 1, which runs on the Versova-Andheri-Ghatkopar route, will now have a unique ticketing option. This cool new system introduces a QR-coded wristband, named TapTap, that can be scanned at the AFC (Automatic Fare Collection) gate.

Easy-to-recharge, battery-less and waterproof!

Notably, Mumbai Metro 1 passengers will be able to recharge these TapTap wristbands similarly like they recharge their store value passes. According to MMOPL officials, these wristbands are waterproof, work without batteries, and are made from a material, that it is not irritational to the skin.

This new ticketing system for Mumbai Metro 1 is set to make travel convenient for passengers, as they can simply wear the wristbands instead of carrying tickets or cards. MMOPL officials believe that its introduction will significantly reduce the risk of lost metro tickets.
