Totally passing the vibe-check, Mumbai Local passengers dance to 'Kaanta Laga’

Somya Agarwal

Any Mumbai visitor will see, that lives here are lived on the margins of raucous and people-clogged locals. Walk down any clangorous Mumbai local train, and you'll find push-carts, vendors, hawkers and toilers - all cramped-up, travelling from one place to another.

Nonetheless, to break the monotony, people often deploy creative solutions to release stress. One such incident is taking the internet by storm, where a local train passenger is seen singing the iconic Kaanta Laga song by Lata Mangeshkar. What makes this episode even more special is that people from all walks of life joined in, to sing and dance along.

It’s all about some positive energy

High on contagious energy, the video was shared on Instagram by a Mumbai local traveller, @1998_roadrunner, on June 23. So far the viral video has crossed over 18 million views with 1 million likes while thousands of users left interesting comments on it.

One such user, @rohan_chavhan09, while appreciating the skills of the uncle playing beats on the wall, wrote “Respect for the guy who's playing beats like a drummer". Another user, @sameer010192, sighed and wrote “Unfortunately this is the last generation enjoying in local train”.  Commenting on how small things contribute to big moments, @harsh_rajput wrote “seems as if all passengers were credited their month’s salary early”.

This video highlights how good music and joyous company, can turn any dull moment into a fresh light-hearted start.
