U.S. Consulate Mumbai in Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC) now features 70 comfortable benches made from recycled plastic. The US Consulate, in collaboration with Indian Regional Passport Office, installed these benches for applicants waiting in line, after extending an additional 250,000 visa appointments.

Inaugurated on October 7 by U.S. Consul General Mike Hankey and the Chief of the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA), the benches showcase unique artwork by underprivileged local artists.

With slogans like "Mumbai Ke Liye Kuch Bhi Karega," “Local Train Yatri Kripya Dhyan De” and vibrant images of the Bandra-Worli Sea Link, these benches add a touch of local flair. The benches are created by Project Mumbai from recycled plastic waste, at no cost. MMRDA oversaw the installation, while the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) will handle maintenance.

Alongside the benches, 50 waste bins will be introduced, with plans for more seating and restroom facilities at Avenue 1.
