Watch | Juhu's auto-rickshaw karaoke star sings his way into Mumbaikars' hearts

"Ye shehar aur yahan ke log..."

Mumbai’s streets have been treated to a dose of melody, all thanks to one auto-rickshaw driver with a passion for Bollywood classics. In a video that has taken social media by storm, the driver, whose name is still a mystery, can be seen singing “Phir Wahi Raat Hai” from the 1979 film Ghar as he drives through the streets of Juhu at 11 pm on a Saturday night.

Captured by Manoj Baadkar, the video has 1.3 million views on Instagram. Armed with a microphone (and the occasional honking of a passing car), he has turned the everyday Mumbai commute into an impromptu concert.

Social media couldn’t get enough of it. Users flocked to the comments section, expressing admiration. “Living his passion and driving a rickshaw because passion doesn't pay bills, more power to him,” one fan wrote. Another user chimed in, “Wah, this is the proof that happiness is a state of mind and not about possessing materialistic things.

I want a ride in this rickshaw and sing along with this guy,” one user commented. Another couldn’t resist adding, “Ye shehar aur yahan ke log (red hearts emojis)” and feel the same!
