Yellow Alert issued for Mumbai; heavy rains and strong winds expected in next 48 hours

Mumbai and its suburbs are preparing for major weather disruptions in the next 48 hours, with the India Meteorological Department (IMD) issuing a Yellow Alert. The city is expected to face heavy rainfall accompanied by gusty winds reaching speeds of 50-60 kmph.

The situation is more severe in surrounding districts, with Orange and Red alerts issued for areas including Thane, Raigad, and Palghar. IMD Mumbai director Sunil Kamble warns of intensifying conditions after August 26.

The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation reported substantial rainfall across the city, with water stocks in supply lakes at 95.27%. Residents are advised to prepare for potential disruptions and stay updated on weather alerts.
