After two vitrual editions, Serendipity Arts Festival (SAF) is finally back on the ground in Goa to celebrate the ever-growing universe of artists worldwide. Scheduled to be held between December 15 to 23 this year, the 5th edition of the SAF is pegged to be one of the largest multi-media art initiatives in the South Asian region. Sweeping through 9 days, SAF will be bringing artists, curators and collective collaborations to state capital Panaji, from across the world and here’s what you can expect from the upcoming season
Same spirt, new perspective!
Founded by Sunil Kant Munjal, SAF has made a huge impact on India’s art scene with 100-plus projects every season. It saw a footfall of over three and a half lakhs, majorly from Pune, Mumbai and Delhi before lockdown.
However, with the onset of the COVID pandemic in 2020, Serendipity Art Festival went digital and launched SAF 2020 x You. The digital experience was hosted on various social media platforms and was also awarded the Best Cultural Festival title at the LCD Berlin Awards, 2022.
Helming this digital achievement as part of its legacy, this year SAF is washed in the spirit of a new perspective and approach, with more multi-disciplinary and trans-disciplinary events lined up here.
Conceptualised by eminent curators, SAF will be hosting a series of artists, distinct genres of film, live art, literature and fashion to let free-flowing collaborations, conversations and creativity flowing through.
What’s all the buzz about?
To put things into perspective, the SAF In its third season brought a sound-based performance inside a house, a dance-off in a multi-level car parking along with a showcase of metal-made jamdani garments to Goa. They have also hosted historic performances like Romeo and Juliet, Xenos By Akram and live performances from artists like Mukhtiyar Ali and art-rock band Dastaan.
And a similar, grand festival of art and literature and love is set to take stage here once again.We know it’s too early to book tickets but we can’t wait to register and get our own RFID cards.
