As per records, a cumulative total of 1,69,839 citizens from the coastal state have been affected by the highly contagious virus till now. Amongst these, 3,111 people have succumbed to the virus while 1,65,292 have successfully recovered. During the onslaught of the second wave, Goa witnessed one of the highest positivity rates in the country and the count of deaths also multiplied.

Now, the situation is gradually improving with the loosening grip of contagion and the plateaued case tally is expected to take a downward slope. Reportedly, experts have affirmed that a weekly average of cases is a better and more reliable measure to gauge the course of the pandemic as compared to the daily case count.

Caution & COVID-appropriate behaviour the need of the hour!

Reports state that the fall in detections may be a direct result of the reduced testing. Reportedly, the number of tests conducted on Monday was less than the usual count logged on the previous days. Given these points, it is pertinent to make sure that COVID-appropriate behaviour and all safety protocols are scrupulously followed. If the citizens assure cooperation with the efforts taken by the state, the possibilities of the impending third wave can be surely mitigated.
