Enroute digitisation, Goa's transport department takes 16 of its services online

People can fully avail the benefits of 16 e-services of Goa's transport department from Friday.

In a major step towards digitisation, 16 services of Goa's transport department have now been made available on their online portal. The state Transport Minister stated that the designated portal will be fully functional from Friday, allowing people to avail the e-services at their doorstep, easing the restrictive perils of the COVID pandemic. These services will now be available at the click of a button while earlier people had to go to the RTO (Regional Transport Office) for the same.

E-services to grant ease, transparency & safety!

Goa's transport department has a catalogue of 147 services and the Minister informed that the state aims to move as many of these, as possible, to digital platforms. For now, it is launching 16 services on an online portal to permit direct citizen access to their benefits. It will assist the people to renew new temporary permits, goods carriage permits, new national permit authorisations and other such services, without having the need to go to the RTO.

The digital footprint will add a sense of transparency to the system along with ease. People can track and monitor their permit applications and other details in the safety of their homes, rather than bustling to public offices. This is an effective means to control crowds as well as facilitating digital and fast-tracked solutions.

Goa second state after Chhattisgarh to provide online RTO services

Earlier on June 2, Chhattisgarh had also launched a similar provision for 22 of its transport-related services. These were provided under the banner of 'Tunhar Sarkar, Tuhar Dwar' scheme, which translates to 'your government, your doorstep'. It was inferred that the primary reason for the widespread popularity of digital cutdown is to cut down on the number of people stepping out of their homes, into the clutches of the pandemic.
