For an unusual Goan experience head to The Rice Mill in Morjim, here’s why!

Of course when in Goa, you’d expect the beachy-hippie vibes soaking in your skin and soul, while the wind flirts with your hair and tides crash away at your feet. Toes dipped in sand and hands around a bottle of beer while some beach shack plays some music! Sounds like a dream Goan vacay right?!

But if you’re looking to get away from the generic shacks and crowds and are inclined towards a more relaxed ambience for a meal and conversations, head to Morjim. This village houses a revamped rice mill which serves as a cafe during the day but as soon as the sun sets, the bartender gets busy!

With yellow walls and teal window frames, The Rice Mill is a place for those who’re looking for a recluse amidst the laps of Morjim’s verdancy.

Vibes & Other Deets!

Identified as a mill by the village folks here, back in 1955, The Rice Mill has been fashioned into a cafe-bar while retaining its rustic personality. This eatery serves delish tapas featuring local and chiefly organic produce and signature cocktails!

The Rice Mill exudes the vibes of grungy aesthetics and minimal furniture makes it all the more tenable. Although refashioned, its aged character has been preserved, which makes it stand out amidst its counterparts. So when here, you can expect exposed brick walls and pipes, dim lighting and a couple of frames hung on time-stained walls, gracing your sight.

Lending another dose of freshness to the cafe, there are potted plants dotting the interiors and their classical music playlist, just keeps our toes tapping. If you’re here on a Saturday, you can even be a part of their Jazz nights and they also have free WiFi, adding to the highlights!

When here early and hungry, go for their hearty breakfast bowls and smoothies and their coffee beans are sourced from a close-by roastery, which’ll make your day better. The Mutton Kheema Pav, Morjim Xacuti Chicken, Surly Prawns and the Goan Chorizo here, are lust-worthy and the quantity is wholesome too.

Wrap up your meal on a sweet note with their pancakes and you’ll be sorted for the next couple of hours.
